COVID-19 has turned the entire world upside-down, making online shopping more essential than ever.

Here’s my list of the top 15 travel items to improve your quarantine:
Letsfit Resistance Exercise Bands
The most versatile of this gear list are the Letsfit resistance exercise bands. You get a pack of five and can use them for an array of different workouts (yoga, pilates, strength training, etc.). They’re lightweight and affordable, and for budget-conscious travelers like myself, they’re ideal for staying in shape while exploring new places.
Sony H900 Noise-Cancelling Wireless Headphones
The Sony H900 noise-cancelling wireless headphones are literal music to my ears. They’re incredible for freeing up distractions while working from home and for getting some peace while flying. The battery life is the huge selling point for these headphones – I used them in Japan for 8 hours straight and the battery magically stayed at 100% the entire time.

Anker Wireless Earbuds
If you’d rather get some wireless earbuds, go with these Anker Soundcore Liberty Lite bluetooth ones. Their noise-cancelling capabilities work just as well as the Sony headphones mentioned above (if not better! You can’t hear a thing in these guys), and they have better grips for staying in your ears than AirPods.
Nintendo Switch Lite
My boyfriend and all his friends are always highly occupied with the Nintendo Switch. However, for traveling purposes, I’d recommend the Nintendo Switch Lite. Add in some incredible Switch games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and you’ll never say that you’re bored ever again. Just remember to disinfect the controllers if playing with your family!
Anker PowerCore Battery Pack
The Anker PowerCore 5000 portable power bank is a must-have for any traveler, especially since it (almost) fits in your palm. Even when confined to the house, I’ll carry this tiny battery in my pocket rather than sitting near a long cable waiting for my phone to charge. Anker makes incredible power banks – I wouldn’t have survived any of my travels without them. If you want to charge multiple devices in lightning speed, get the Anker PowerCore Essential 20000 – I’ve gotten more than four full charge cycles out of this bad boy with my iPhone over the span of a few days.
Rume Expandable Tote Bag
The Rume expandable tote bag is ideal for having around the house and can also be concealed into your purse or backpack when grocery shopping. I’ve used it plenty of times as an emergency carry-on item for flights, since it magically fits a surprising amount of things and then folds up into a little rectangle, weighing as much as a tissue box. I’ve had this bag since 2012 and I still use it every day – especially when I need a quick stash of snacks!

Lifestraw Go Water Filter Bottle
Tired of buying bottled water and killing the environment with all your plastic usage? Get the Lifestraw Go Water filter bottle with 2-stage integrated filter straw. This is an award-winning bottle with a powerful filter that removes bacteria and protozoa from lakes and streams to ensure safe, clean drinking water. Its “2-stage” activated carbon filter reduces odor, chlorine and leaves zero aftertaste in your mouth. You can also just buy the Lifestraw by itself, but either option is great to have in case of an emergency at home and/or when traveling.
Kindle Paperwhite
The latest Kindle Paperwhite is now waterproof and with twice as much storage. For everyone staying at home, it’s the perfect time to catch up on all those books saved on your Goodreads list. Plus, it’s a great device to have while traveling – and much lighter than a laptop.
iGreely Silicon Collapsible Travel Cup
For anyone who loves drinking (anything), the eco-friendly iGreely silicon collapsible travel cup is a great choice. It can be collapsed into 3 sizes (150, 350, 550 mL) and comes with a heavy-duty clip to prevent you from leaving it anywhere. For all my cruise ship pals, sneak the Gourmia collapsible kettle onboard your next ship to ensure many convenient cups of tea and instant noodles galore (but hide it before cabin inspections!).
Yoozon Selfie Stick Tripod
The Yoozon selfie stick tripod is my favourite subtle travel accessory. It’s light and portable enough to stick in your pocket for stealthy photos. For those making TikToks and self-photoshoots in their living room right now, it also comes in handy. As a solo traveler, all my landscape shots with me in them are thanks to this fella, so I highly recommend this for anyone without an Insta-boyfriend to take their photos every 5 minutes. It also comes with a built-in Bluetooth remote to self-timer away. All the photos below were taken with this tripod!
QIAYA Selfie Ring Light
Of course, you can’t take pictures properly without a QIAYA selfie ring light. This is a portable LED light that clips onto your phone or laptop screen to illuminate your face, and thousands of influencers swear by it. It also comes in handy for late-night Zoom meetings and evening classes you need to instruct (for all the online teachers I know). No batteries required, just charge it via cable when it needs some more juice!
BONFOTO Portable Tripod
Shooting a work-from-home (WFH) video while in quarantine? No problem. The BONFOTO portable tripod will be your best friend. It extends to 55″ and collapses to a mere 14.5″, light enough to carry around anywhere. You’ll also need to get an attachable phone mount, like this Ulanzi metal one, to make sure your phone stays on the tripod properly. Both accessories were used to take the photo below with my parents:

iVoler Laptop Stand
The iVoler aluminum laptop stand is extremely durable and great for when you need a raised surface to work and/or engage in Zoom meetings. Additionally, when you buy this item, iVoler asks you to fill out a survey and then e-mails you a code for a $10 Amazon giftcard. So really, it’s like paying a minimal price for a very durable laptop stand – I highly recommend this while it lasts.
Samsung T5 Portable SSD
With so much extra time on our hands at home, it’s advisable to backup all your media with a trustworthy harddrive. The Samsung T5 portable SSD is a life-saver, and it’s only the size of a credit card! I have two (thanks, Dad!) – a 500GB and a 1TB one. They’re absolute musts when backing up your travel photos and videos on the go, as a backup to your Cloud storage. They’re also extremely light and portable compared to external hard drives, and you don’t run the risk of losing all your data if you accidentally drop it!
Lunchskins Reusable Food Storage Bags
If you’re tired of buying boxes of Ziploc bags every week, try Lunchskins reusable food storage bags. These are ideal for storing food when going for a long hike or day trip. They’re easy to wash, dishwasher-safe, moisture-proof, grease-proof, resealable (the velcro keeps everything fresh even in the fridge), and you don’t have to worry about food perspiration. I used the sandwich-sized one to store our passports and rail passes in Japan, which came in handy on rainy days. Plus, who can resist the cute whale print?
Many of the items listed above are eco-friendly. If you’re interested in living (and traveling) with less plastic, check out my friend Bri’s blog. She has a lot of in-depth articles on outdoor lifestyle and gear, and a wealth of knowledge to be shared!
Being quarantined inside your home doesn’t have to be a bore. I hope some of these travel items improve your quarantine and help with your productivity. Know any additional items that would be useful for both travel and quarantine? Leave a comment below!
