In my freshman year of college, my suitemates wrote and sang a song about cheese.
It was hilarious, especially given the fact that I absolutely love all types of cheese (except bleu cheese). BRING ON THE CHEESE.
I knew that the cheese would be different when I moved to New Zealand. Heck, I knew that all the food would taste different.
The bland taste of the majority of food in New Zealand is probably the country’s ONE downside. Still, I’ve managed to eat at an array of great, multicultural places thanks to fantastic recommendations of friends and locals. Like most of the world, I LOVE GOOD FOOD. Also, thanks to my best friend who is probably the most talented chef in the world, I’ve come to appreciate unique menus and dishes that much more. I’m never one to empty my pockets out for a meal, but once in a while, it’s nice to go out and enjoy a hearty, unique meal. After all, you can’t travel without eating around a new destination and trying new things.
See the below photo mosaic for some ideas of where to eat if you happen to stop by Wellington. My all-time favorite restaurant thus far is Wagamama, because it’s the closest I’ve gotten to a place with a Hawaiian dish (chicken katsu curry: amazing).
“Good food is like music you can taste, color you can smell. There is excellence all around you. You need only to be aware to stop and savor it.”
